Met de steun van het staalconstructiebedrijf Erhard &amp; S\u00f6hne in Schw\u00e4bisch Gm\u00fcnd begon Friedrich in december 1945 met de uitvoering van het project. De ontwerper Heinrich R\u00f6\u00dfler werd begin 1946 voor het project aangetrokken.<\/p>\n<p>Hij kwam met een nieuw ontwerp met de volgende bijzonderheid: de motor-transmissie-eenheid werd rechts van de middellijn van het voertuig geplaatst. Dit maakte het mogelijk de stuwbuizen die de aandrijfassen beschermen in een hoek van 90\u00b0 ten opzichte van de assen te vormen. Het chassis had dus slechts vier transmissieverbindingen nodig. Een ingenieus ontwerp dat nog steeds wordt gebruikt op de huidige Unimog U 4023\/U 5023.<\/p>\n<h2>De verschillen tussen dit Unimog-prototype en de tractoren die in de landbouw worden gebruikt<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>Maximumsnelheid van 50 km\/h vergeleken met 25 km\/h voor trekkers<\/li>\n<li>Geveerde assen met schokdempers<\/li>\n<li>Vierwielaandrijving en differentieelsloten voor en achter<\/li>\n<li>Remmen op de voor- en achteras, terwijl een trekker alleen remmen op de achteras had<\/li>\n<li>Cabine met twee zitplaatsen en gesloten motorkap<\/li>\n<li>Extra laadruimte boven de achteras met een laadvermogen van 1,0 t<\/li>\n<li>Statische gewichtsverdeling: 2\/3 op vooras, 1\/3 op achteras<\/li>\n<li>Uitvoering van bevestigingsmogelijkheden vooraan, in het midden en
