Hij had een lange wielbasis en was bedoeld voor militair gebruik.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Het_Duitse_leger_is_dol_op_de_Unimog_S\"><\/span>Het Duitse leger is dol op de Unimog S<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>De Bundeswehr, opgericht in 1956, was bij het project betrokken. De Unimog S werd een kwart eeuw lang gebouwd, tot 1980. Het Duitse leger bleef een belangrijke afnemer van dit model, dat daarmee de bestseller van de Unimog werd. Dankzij zijn uitstekende terreineigenschappen wordt de Unimog S zeer gewaardeerd door legers over de hele wereld.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"De_Unimog_S_met_alleen_benzinemotor\"><\/span>De Unimog S met alleen benzinemotor<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>De Unimog S draagt de ovale grille die typerend is voor de Daimler-Benz bedrijfsvoertuigen uit die tijd, met de ronde omlijste koplampen.<\/p>\n<p>De cabine heeft een tijdloos ontwerp. In vergelijking met de oorspronkelijke Unimog is de wielbasis met ongeveer een meter vergroot, eerst tot 2700 en vervolgens tot 2900 millimeter.<\/p>\n<p>Onder de motorkap van de Unimog S ligt geen dieselmotor zoals in de oorspronkelijke Unimog, maar een aangepaste benzinemotor uit de toerwagen.
