Dit maakte langere lichamen en een hoger laadvermogen mogelijk. De Unimog U416 bleef in productie tot 1994, met een totaal van 45.544 eenheden in 21 modellen. De chassis van de 416-serie werden ook gebruikt als basisvoertuigen voor speciale voertuigen van andere fabrikanten.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"De_416_oplegger_trekker\"><\/span>De 416 oplegger trekker<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Door de montage van een koppelschotel kan de Unimog 416 met kort chassis nu als opleggertrekker worden gebruikt, wat bij de Unimog 406 door zijn kortere wielbasis niet mogelijk was.<\/p>\n<p>Het lange chassis was hoofdzakelijk bestemd voor gebruik als werkmachine met speciale taken, als werktuigdrager voor omvangrijke hulpstukken of zelfs als terreinwagen.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Uitrusting_van_de_Unimog_416\"><\/span>Uitrusting van de Unimog 416<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>De U 416 kon worden geleverd met veel van de uitrustingsdetails van de U 406.<\/p>\n<p>Aan de achterzijde had de U 416 twee chassisoverhangen, 425 mm en 905 mm. De korte chassisoverhang was vergelijkbaar met die van de U 406 en de lange chassisoverhang was bedoeld voor klanten met speciale carrosserie\u00ebn, zoals brandweerlieden.<\/p>\n<p>De korte overhang verschafte de ruimte tussen de bestuurderscabine en het platform voor kraanopbouwen, lieren of grote gereedschapskisten door de gunstigere statica. Natuurlijk was deze vrije ruimte ook ideaal voor de dubbele cabine met vijf zitplaatsen. Met de korte chassisoverhang (425 mm) werd het vijfde wiel aangeboden, aangezien de lange wielbasis van de U 416 meer rij- en manoeuvreerstabiliteit bood dan de U 406.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Unimog_U80\"><\/span>Unimog U80<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Vergeleken met de 406 was de nieuwigheid van de 416 U80 de verlenging van de wielbasis met 520 mm tot 2900 mm. De nieuwe Unimog 416-serie was verkrijgbaar met twee verschillende chassislengtes, kort (4207 mm) en lang (4687 mm).<\/p>\n<p>De eerste modellen met open en gesloten cabine waren uitgerust met de zescilinder dieselmotor met directe inspuiting van 80 pk van het type OM 352 (BM 353.902).<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Unimog_U90\"><\/span>Unimog U90<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>De U 90 verving de U 80 in januari 1969. Hij werd beschouwd als een krachtige en wendbare trekker voor het vervoer van goederen over korte afstanden.<\/p>\n<p>De U 90 was uitgerust met de OM 352 zes-cilinder dieselmotor met directe inspuiting, afgeleid van de motor van de in serie geproduceerde vrachtwagens. Hij ontwikkelde een maximumvermogen van 126 pk en het vermogen werd bij de U 90 teruggebracht tot 90 pk bij 2800 omwentelingen per minuut.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Unimog_U100_en_U110\"><\/span>Unimog U100 en U110<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>In 1969 lanceerde Daimler-Benz de Unimog U 100. Met zijn vermogen van 100 pk voldeed de trekker aan de eisen van het goederenvervoer over korte afstand. Hij is ontworpen voor korte-afstandstransporten en fabriekstransport voor het slepen.<\/p>\n<p>De U100 was ook voorzien van de speciale kenmerken van de 416-serie: de wielbasis was vergroot tot 2900 mm om plaats te bieden aan een trekhaak voor een oplegger, een dubbele cabine of speciale werkuitrusting. De 100 pk-versie van de Unimog 416-serie bleef slechts tot eind 1970 in het gamma en werd vervangen door de U 110, die werd opgevoerd tot 110 pk.<\/p>\n<p>De Unimog was voor het eerst verkrijgbaar als chassisvariant in een zogenaamde &#8220;truck&#8221;-uitvoering.<\/p>\n<p>De Unimog 416, met zijn 100 pk motor, werd niet alleen gebruikt als wegtractor, werkmachine of werktuigdrager, maar werd ook steeds meer gebruikt in internationale militaire operaties als een lichte terreinwagen van de NAVO-klasse, op voorwaarde dat hij de voorkeur kreeg boven de Unimog S vanwege zijn dieselmotor.<\/p>\n<p>De 416 werd goedgekeurd als middelgroot transportvoertuig en trekker voor het vervoer van materiaal tot 2,5 ton (met een wielbasis van 3400 mm tot 3,0 ton). Met zijn brandstoftank van 90 liter kon tot 600 kilometer over de weg worden afgelegd, met een brandstofverbruik van ongeveer 19 liter\/100 km.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"U1100_L_de_allrounder\"><\/span>U1100 L, de allrounder<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>De U 1100 L, model 416.114 van de 416-serie, is een krachtig terreinvoertuig en een van de meest capabele bedrijfsvoertuigen ooit gebouwd. Zijn off-road capaciteiten, gecombineerd met zijn robuustheid en betrouwbaarheid, zijn opmerkelijk. Het chassis met hoge prestaties wordt gekenmerkt door een laag gewicht, rijstabiliteit, een schuin chassis en een groot wielcontactgebied met maximale asuitslag.<\/p>\n<p>De U 1100L is wendbaar en, met zijn relatief lage gewicht, bijna vergelijkbaar met een terreinwagen. De PR 12.5-20\/10 wielen zijn ook enorm in vergelijking en zijn geschikt voor off-road gebruik. De U 1100 L is het meest gebouwde model in de 416-serie.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Nieuwe_namen_voor_de_416_series\"><\/span>Nieuwe namen voor de 416 series<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Vanaf het midden van de jaren 1970 kreeg de 416-serie ook andere verkoopbenamingen, die nu gebaseerd waren op de afgeronde waarde van het tienvoudige motorvermogen.
