Aanvankelijk heette het eerste U425-model U120<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"De_425-serie_en_de_schuine_cabine\"><\/span>De 425-serie en de schuine cabine<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Kenmerkend voor de 425-serie is het ontwerp van de nieuwe hoekige cabine. Bijzonder opvallend is de gloednieuwe korte, ruime en verhoogde cabine met een hoekig design, die een moderne en functionele werkplek biedt met een hoog rijcomfort. Zijn grote motorkap, die net iets naar voren helt, maakt hem onmiddellijk herkenbaar. Het eindigt met een grote zwarte voorkant. Het basisuiterlijk van deze cabine is al meer dan een kwart eeuw ongewijzigd.<\/p>\n<p>Op verzoek waren ook drie zitplaatsen beschikbaar. De voertuigen van de eerste serie waren gemakkelijk herkenbaar aan de spiegels die alleen aan de pilaren van de veiligheidscabine waren bevestigd.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"De_U120_nu_1300\"><\/span>De U120, nu 1300<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>De eerste Unimog in de 425-serie en instapmodel was de U120.<\/p>\n<h3><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"U120_motoren_en_transmissie_U1300\"><\/span>U120 motoren en transmissie, U1300<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p>Aanvankelijk aangeboden als optie naast de atmosferische 120 pk motor. Maar al snel, in januari 1976, werd de U120 voorzien van een 125 pk sterke zescilinder 5,7 liter motor. Deze nieuwe motor gebruikt de energie in de uitlaatgassen om verbrandingslucht met een overdruk van ongeveer 0,7-0,8 bar in de verbrandingskamer te persen. De voordelen van deze oplading waren:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>hoger specifiek vermogen,<\/li>\n<li>betere verbranding,<\/li>\n<li>een gunstiger gebruik van brandstof,<\/li>\n<li>een toename van 16% in koppel.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Het was na de introductie van de turbomotor dat de naam veranderde, de U120 werd de U1300.<\/p>\n<p>De basis Unimog U1300 was uitgerust met een achtversnellingsbak. Op verzoek kon hij worden uitgerust met een extra planetaire versnellingsbak met nog eens acht kleine tandwielen.<\/p>\n<h3><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Andere_technische_kenmerken_van_de_U1300\"><\/span>Andere technische kenmerken van de U1300<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p>De 425 serie Unimog was state-of-the-art met uitrusting zoals:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>geavanceerde portaalassen met schijfremmen,<\/li>\n<li>een Daimler-Benz stuurbekrachtiging,<\/li>\n<li>een hydraulisch remsysteem met twee circuits, geregeld door perslucht.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>De U1300 had een wielbasis van 2810 millimeter.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"De_Unimog_U1500_met_een_grotere_motor\"><\/span>De Unimog U1500 met een grotere motor<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>De U1500, die oorspronkelijk de U150 heette, verscheen op de hielen van de U1300. De motor was berekend op 150 pk in plaats van de 125 pk van de U1300. De U1500 had een hoog laadvermogen, waardoor het mogelijk was economisch te werken met zelfs de zwaarste aanbouwdelen, vooral in landbouwtoepassingen. Dankzij de vierwielaandrijving kon de U 1500 de kracht van zijn 150 pk sterke motor optimaal omzetten in trekkracht.<\/p>\n<p>Dankzij deze kenmerken nam het aantal gebruiksmogelijkheden van de U1500 toe en werden voertuigen aangeschaft voor de landbouw, de handel, de industrie en de openbare sector.<\/p>\n<p>De vooras kon tijdens het rijden worden ingeschakeld &#8211; pneumatisch, eenvoudig te activeren met een draaiknop. Met dezelfde knop &#8211; ook tijdens het rijden en pneumatisch &#8211; kon het differentieel in de voor- en achteras worden geblokkeerd.<\/p>\n<p>De U1500, die zich had ontwikkeld tot een veelzijdige en krachtige wegtractor voor zuinig industrieel gebruik, mocht een aanhangwagen van 40 ton trekken. Dit was tweemaal zoveel als een vrachtwagen, aangezien tractoren volgens de wet slechts 3 pk\/t nodig hadden, terwijl vrachtwagens 6 pk\/t nodig hadden.<\/p>\n<h3><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Het_comfort_van_de_U1500\"><\/span>Het comfort van de U1500<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p>Speciale nadruk werd gelegd op het cre\u00ebren van een chauffeursvriendelijke werkruimte:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>het geluidsniveau in de veiligheidscabine was uitzonderlijk laag,<\/li>\n<li>de cabine was uitgerust met een in hoogte verstelbare hydraulische stoel,<\/li>\n<li>de ruimte voor de bestuurder en bijrijder bood een hoog niveau van comfort,<\/li>\n<li>een airconditioningsysteem zorgde voor stof- en geluidsarme ventilatie,<\/li>\n<li>de positie van de voorstoel van de bestuurder, gecombineerd met de speciaal verlaagde motorkap, zorgt voor een goed zicht op de weg,<\/li>\n<li>de stuurbekrachtiging en de kleine draaicirkel maakten moeilijke manoeuvres gemakkelijker.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Unimog_U1500_T\"><\/span>Unimog U1500 T<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Bij dit model eindigde de aandrijfkop van de Unimog bijna achter de cabine van de bestuurder en was hij voorzien van gestandaardiseerde bevestigingspunten voor gebruik als aandrijfeenheid voor speciale voertuigen. De U 1500 T was de krachtigste versie van de Unimog in die tijd.
